We have had to trim Cody's hair many times because it is so wild and so long. But he went for his official first hair cut today at ToysRUs. He didn't like sitting in the chair and I actually fed him a bottle while she cut his hair - It worked out perfectly that way.Beforeduringafter

Double vision
My two boys I have always thought are so different. They definitely have different personalities but they do look similar in these pictures.
Strawberries
Cody's new favorite food is strawberries. We are trying all sorts of new foods these days, sweet potato puffs, biter biscuits, bananas, grapes. Of course we are doing baby steps but next up is plain pasta and carrots! He now has seven teeth, it is amazing that a 7 month old can have as many teeth as months he has been alive. We have been fighting the congestion and aches and pains that go with getting seven teeth especially since 5 of them came in the last three weeks. They caused two sets of double ear infections and a couple of other problems. Poor thing except for a little bit of fussiness he is still smiling and happy.
It's a zoo around here
We are officially a zoo here and are now charging admission to see the mayhem. Bill adopted a little kitty from the animal shelter for my birthday this year. He is so adorable and surprisingly very very friendly. He even lets all the kids hold him and pet him. My parents went out of town shortly after and we were in charge of the bird. So here are a couple of pictures of my zoo, if you come see in person, it'll be $5.00 - conservation fee.the new kitty, Miko or Leo depending on who you are talking to.a hibernating bear - sweet as the honey he eats.Nemo the beta fishLily playing Elefun - the butterfly catching game. camping trip
Can you believe I went camping? I hate camping, sleeping outdoors, no bathrooms, bugs, tents, no AC, no heater. My motto is "I pay a mortgage every month so I can sleep indoors, why would I want to ruin that." So Bill decided it would be the perfect weekend to go camping, just for the night. I had a weak moment and gave in, I figured we could always pack up the car and head home if it was too miserable. We set up the tent on the Guadalupe River at a camping site and Bill made a fire and cooked some dinner. I did marry MacGyver so I guess it was time for me to really see him in action. We cooked smores over the fire later that night. Brayden snuck an entire chocolate bar when we weren't looking. It was the typical, "whaaa?" with a mouth full of chocolate. We all slept in the tent together, even little Cody. It was freezing!!! I bet it got down to 40 degrees or so. I had every blanket I could find on Cody and Brayden just to make sure they were warm. I didn't sleep much, not that I anticipated that I would anyway. The kids were fine when we woke up the next morning, in fact Brayden slept in til 9:30am. We decided to pack up the car as soon as we could and head back home, no reason to stay if we can't swim. We all weathered the trip pretty well, I think we were there a total of 15 hours. I am thinking we will not be repeating the trip anytime soon, but who knows maybe I will have another weak moment.Cody hanging outBrayden hanging onBrayden and Dad roasting smoresCody and I hung out in the car all morning long. He woke up at 6:30am and we ate in the car and stayed in there all morning with the heater on until the gauge read 60 degrees. The boys lounging while we pick everything up to go home. The campsite

7 months - Cody Owen
Brayden pretty much picks out his outfits by himself everyday now. I am positive that Cody wishes he could be there already. BUT, he isn't and so I still get to put him in anything I think is cute. He is seven months old already, which is crazy to me how fast it went by. I took him to the park in this outfit today and two people asked me if he was a girl or a boy - come on...green camo? a girl? Trust me ya'll if I ever have a girl I will never dress her in camo, period.

Brayden's new bike
So we have been trying to potty-train for what feels like an eternity. We have tried loving persuasion, gentle coaxing, candy bribes and finally the ultimate bribe - a new bike. In fact any bike you want is what we promised him. This didn't seem to do the trick for Brayden. It is amazing how we can be so motivated by material things and children are not. He finally decided on his on terms that he could put the pee in the potty and he had made a couple of #2's as well. So we bought the bike, we assumed it was a done deal and at least the bike would be extra motivation in case he relapsed. Today we are still working on the potty thing but he is getting better every day. I consider a two accident day a blessing. All those books and websites and people who say you can potty train in a day, a weekend or a week have never met Brayden. I know he will not go to kindergarten in diapers but he does love to challenge me everyday. Here he is smiling with Superman underwear on.
